Dialog Small Communications Satellite

Dialog E, an experimental communication satellite, will be integrated in the Express A Satellite Communications Network operated by the Russian Space Communications Company (RSCC).

Applications
- TV Broadcasting: Governmental or private satellite TV (i.e., exchange of TV programs or data channels), with TV programs delivered to the end user either directly or via air/cable TV networks
- Voice/Data Transmission
- Long-distance voice/data transmissions including international access
- Data acquisition from remote terminals (including unmanned ones)
- Subscriber-to-subscriber data exchange
- Video conferencing
- E-mail
- Internet

Dialog E includes
- Relay system
- Space bus accommodating
- Integrated control system
- Uplink command system
- Power supply and distribution system
- Arcjet propulsion unit using fixed SPD 100S plasma thrusters
- Jetissonable propulsion unit using liquid rocket engines
- Thermal control equipment
- Separation system
- Primary structure, harness, etc.
The relay system includes 5 Ku-band transponders (4 operational/1 redundant) and 2 C-band transponders (1 operational/1 redundant).

Injection Scheme.
Dialog E will be launched from the Plesetsk launch base.
The Rockot launch vehicle in combination with the Breeze KS upper stage will deliver the spacecraft to its parking orbit.
Next a Dialog E burn will place the spacecraft on a high elliptic orbit with an apogee varying from 60,000 to 100,000 km. The separable propulsion unit will be jettisoned as soon as its propellants have been depleted following which the spacecraft will be boosted to GSO and drifted to its orbital position by SPD 100S xenon engines. The latter mission segment will last about 180 days.
The same SPD 100S plasma engines will also be used for spacecraft station-keeping.

The Dialog E flight will be controlled by the KhSC Flight Control Center.
